Originally this is a piece for violin and piano. If you look at the score carefully, you’ll see a fair amount of polyphony going on, which meant that it seemed a good candidate for arrangement for recorders to me.

As with the Ravel Pavane, the thick romantic sounds work quite well. The layout is again SAATBBGGC, with the two upper trios working to play melodies in the high and low register.
